New London boys win 59-47 over NFA in basketball rivalry

Norwich — Keith Porter scored 27 points as New London High School pulled away in the second half for a 59-47 victory over rival Norwich Free Academy on Friday night in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division game.

The Whalers improved to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in the Large Division. They visit division leader Woodstock Academy next Friday with a chance to pull even for the regular-season title. NFA fell to 6-5 overall and 2-3 in the Large Division.
