Middletown - Courtney Dumont's goal in overtime Sunday lifted the Connecticut College women's hockey team to a 3-2 win over Wesleyan in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game.
Dumont took a centering pass from the right side by Samantha Schuffenecker and slipped a low backhander past Wesleyan goalie Ashleigh Corvi 2:14 into overtime.
Olivia Farrell and Sam Schoeneberger also scored goals, Amanda Bogue, Julia Rodricks and Shelley Moore had assists and Kelsie Fralick made 20 saves for Conn (8-7-1, 4-5-1). Hannah Jellinek and Jordan Schildhaus scored for Wesleyan (5-12, 1-9).
H.S. hockey
• NFA-St. Bernard-Bacon lost 4-2 to Fairfield Warde-Ludlowe Saturday. Steven Makowicki and Eric Brown scored goals, Denzel Dickerson and Caleb Grace had assists and Evan Callahan made 28 saves for NFA-St. Bernard-Bacon (3-6).
NFA-St. Bernard-Bacon also lost to Rockville-Bolton-Coventry-Lyman Memorial 4-1 Friday night. Dickerson scored the goal, Andrew Gagnon assisted and Jonah Beauton made 24 saves for NFA-St. Bernard-Bacon.
College indoor track
• New London's Fredrick Hewett, the former Ledyard High standout, won two events Saturday at the Coast Guard Invitational. Hewett, a junior at Eastern Connecticut State, won the 400 meters in a time of 52.42 and the 55 meters in 6.71. He also anchored the winning 4x200 relay team.
