    Multi-act concert at Bulkeley House

Hygienic Weekend has become like New Orleans Jazz Fest or Austin's SXSW festival. For every "official" event at either one, there are several tangential shows and parties all over town that just add to the overall quality and merriment.

In that spirit, consider the stand-alone lineup of acts performing Saturday in the newly configured upstairs space at the Bulkeley House in New London.

The Sue Menhart Band, The Rivergods, Chris MacKay & the ToneShifters, and Carl Franklin will all play - and the potential for sonic intermingling betwixt artists is high and tempting.

    - RICK KOSTER

The Sue Menhart Band, The Rivergods, Chris MacKay & the ToneShifters and Carl Franklin, 8 p.m. Saturday, Bulkeley House, 111 Bank St., New London; free; (860) 444-7753.
