State residents get extra time to register for Sandy assistance
Connecticut residents are getting a couple extra weeks to register for Storm Sandy disaster assistance.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency said the deadline has been extended from Jan. 28 to Feb. 12. The government already has approved $37 million in federal aid for Sandy relief in Connecticut.
“Extending this deadline will ensure that any resident or business affected by Storm Sandy has ample time to apply for federal aid,” Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said in a statement.
More than 12,000 residents from throughout Connecticut, including the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribal Nation, already have registered for federal disaster assistance.
More than $10.7 million has gone for housing assistance, and more than $26.4 million in Small Business Administration loans also have been approved.
