Griswold – A building that houses a liquor store at 63 Main St. in Jewett City was “severely damaged” Saturday night, after a vehicle crashed into it acccording to state police.
Police said Hingyi Li, 27, of 70 Brown Ave. Apt. 2, Jewett City, was attempting to park on Main Street about 7:39 p.m. in front of J C Spirit Shop and adjacent to a second vehicle. Police said Li pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, and crashed into the second vehicle and the building.
There were no injuries, but police said Li’s vehicle sustained moderate damage, the parked vehicle had minor damage and the building, owned by Robert Lamothe, had severe damage. Police said there were no witnesses.
