North Stonington -- The town's resident state troopers are investigating the shooting of two cows earlier this month in a field on Pendleton Hill Road.

According to a press release fron Resident State Trooper Timothy Donahue, the cows, owned by the Palmer Farm on East Clark Falls Road, were shot sometime during the weekend of Jan. 19-20. Police said a veterinarian treated the animals, and that one cow is expected to be euthanized.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the North Stonington resident state troopers at (860) 535-1451 or state police at Troop E, Montville, (860) 848-6500.
