    'Permutations' in 3-D

    "Bent"; sculpture by Jasper Goodrich

Why is it always the artsy folks who embrace the all-lower-case construct? You know, like e.e. cummings or k.d. lang. It wasn't "marie curie," after all. Wouldn't it be refreshing if paul krugman or john boehner or perhaps mahmoud ahmadinejad got playful and dispensed with the tiresome capital letters?

Meanwhile, it's good to know the orison project, a contemporary art gallery in Esssex, is onboard. They're latest show, "Permutations," features an array of three-dimensional works by Jasper Goodrich, who in fact uses capital letters, but that's okay with the orison group. An artist reception takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Show runs through March 16. Hours 1-5 p.m. Wed.-Sat. the orison gallery, 8 Railroad Ave., the Witch Hazel Complex #7, Essex. (860) 767-7572, theorisonproject.com.
