New London - The Connecticut College Athletic Hall of Fame will welcome four inductees in a ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 9. The Class of 2012 includes: Judy Fontaine-Higgins of Jewett City, Class of 1979 (track and field); Beth Offenhartz Carlson, Class of 1981 (volleyball); Tom Hudner, Class of 1995 (soccer, lacrosse) and Meghan Barry, Class of 1997 (rowing).

Plaques will be unveiled in the Hall of Fame Room off the foyer of the Charles B. Luce Field House. The athletes will also be honored at a dinner after the ceremony. Tickets are available by contacting Beth Crocker at (860) 439-2541.

Fontaine-Higgins, a Norwich Free Academy graduate and currently a teacher at Lisbon Central School, was a world-renowned pentathlete who won a silver medal at the 1978 U.S. Track & Field National Championships.

She graduated from Conn with a degree in childhood development and a certification to teach elementary education. An accomplished scholar, Fontaine-Higgins graduated cum laude with distinction.

Fontaine-Higgins received her International Class B Coaching License from the Johannes Gutenberg University International Coaching Academy in Mainz, West Germany. She received her Master of Arts in education from Rutgers University.

Since graduating, Fontaine-Higgins has coached track and field at the regional, national and international level. This includes stints as an assistant coach at the Coast Guard and Conn. She has also served as an assistant coach at the U.S. Olympic Committee Regional Training Camp (1981) as well as the U.S. Sports Festival (1983). She continues to coach cross country and track and field in Lisbon.

Carlson was a three-time MVP in volleyball, who led Conn to the 1978 Connecticut State Championship.

Hudner, a two-sport captain and goalkeeper for lacrosse and soccer, led the men's lacrosse program to three consecutive semifinal appearances in the ECAC Championship and to its 1992 ECAC Championship.

Barry, one of the most talented and dedicated rowers to compete in collegiate ranks, earned a silver medal at the 1994 Head of the Charles Regatta and two silver medals at the New England Rowing Championship.
