Norwich police make arrest, seize heroin and stolen guns

Norwich – Police on Wednesday seized two guns, drugs, cash and a pickup truck during a search and seizure at a Woods Drive home.

During the search, police also arrested Matthew Blacha, 39, of 58 Woods Drive, and charged him with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of narcotics, two counts of criminal possession of a firearm and theft of a firearm.

Police seized 278 bags of heroin, 47 methadone tablets, more than $250 in cash, two guns and a 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup, police said. One of the guns had been previously reported stolen, according to police.

The street value of the heroin is approximately $3,000, police said.

Blacha was held in lieu of a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Thursday in Norwich Superior Court.
