Last Saturday, as part of the Hygienic arts festival, adventurer/camera-enthusiasts picked up packets for Hygienic Photo-Gienic containing a photographic scavenger hunt through the New London Historic District.

Each packet contains a series of words to be interpreted by the respective artists within the context of the neighborhood - and each delivered a series of 5x7 prints.

On Friday, the fruits of these excursions go on display with an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Expressiones Gallery, directly across the street from the Hygienic in New London. Trust us: through these collective eyes and lenses, New London is many-splendored in ways you've probably never thought about. The show runs through Feb. 10. Regular gallery hours are 2-6 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.
