    The fallacy of underpaid women

It's Groundhog Day. Except the Bill Murray character never learns anything along the way. That is what I think of with this perennial "news" item of women only being paid 78 cents for every dollar a man makes.

Get over it. Women make many choices. Moving in and out of the workforce to raise or tend to children, along with their career choices, has a greater effect on their pay than which restroom they use.

When you compare apples to apples - childless men and women of the same age group - the differences in pay virtually disappear. That was from a story in the LA Times from 1995.

Recycling may be a good thing with trash but not with stories riddled with errors in fact. This study proposed by Gov. Malloy is yet another example of fat in government. If these state departments have nothing better to do than study this non-issue then perhaps they should be eliminated. It's make-work.
