New London - Joseph Carter played a role in two meet records Saturday to help lead Ledyard High School to the Eastern Connecticut Conference boys' indoor track and field championship at Coast Guard Academy.

Carter won the 300-meter dash in 35.53, breaking the old mark of 36.47 set by Windham's Evan Rouse in 2011, and also teamed with Alex Paterson, Steven Servedio and Alex Hintz-Valdez to win the 4x180 relay in 1:23.69, breaking a 23-year-old record of 1:23.90 set by Fitch in 1990.

The Colonels finished with 126 points to easily beat Griswold (78). Montville finished third with 63.

Ledyard's other individual winner was Michael Lopes, who cleared 5 feet, 6 inches to win the high jump.

St. Bernard's Connor Gralton was a double-winner, taking the 1,000 (2:53.02) and 1,600 (4:43.23). Stonington's Cody Candelet won the 600 (1:27.66) and joined Zachary Goldberg, Ulysses Sepulveda and Jay Nieuwenhuis to win the 4x360 relay (3:19.76), while Montville's Jesse Joseph won the 3,200 (10:13.06) and teamed up with Kevin Fitzgerald, Aaron Sheldon and Dan Linkenhoker to win the 4x720 relay (7:49.22).

In other meets:

• Old Lyme's 4x800 relay team of Jack Castonguay, Cole McKnight, Stuart Ross and Jeff Davis was victorious in 8:44.12, helping the Wildcats finish seventh in the Shoreline Conference Championship. Old Lyme finished with 47 points, well off the pace of champion East Hampton (82). Devin Byrne added a third in the long jump (20-5½) for the Wildcats and Jared Stanland for third in the shot put (44-6).

Girls' indoor track

• Chenoa Sebastian had a big day to help Ledyard finish second at the ECC Small Division championship. Sebastian won the 55 dash (7.68), 55 hurdles (8.60) and teamed up with Brooke Scahill, Savannah Johnson and Alix Lee to win the 4x80 relay (1:40.78).

Plainfield won the team title with 120 points and the Colonels finished with 106. Lauren Scahill (1,000), Austin Graber (pole vault) and Adedoyin Ladoja (shot put) also won individual events for Ledyard. The only other local individual winner was Montville's Abby McAdams in the high jump (5 feet).

• Old Lyme's Ali Scott won a pair of events at the Shoreline Conference Championship. Scott captured the 300 in 43.01 seconds and the 600 in 1:42.58. Old Saybrook won the team title (139) and Old Lyme was eighth (44).

Wrestling

• Third-ranked Ledyard finished its regular season by defeating No. 6 Xavier (39-28), No. 9 Southington (46-16) and Trumbull (42-32) in a quad meet. Devon MarcAurele (120 pounds) and Kevin McDonald (285) each went 3-0 with three pins for the Colonels (20-1) while Derek Schultz (106), Matt Jones (132), Colin Grim (182, 195) and Ben Morales (220) all went 3-0 and Rob Drury (113) and Brandon Finney (152) were both 2-0.

Waterford's Brentt Smith (113) won twice by pin and his third match by major decision at the same meet. The Lancers (14-18) lost to Southington (46-33), Trumbull (54-25) and Xavier (57-21). Noah Concascia (106) won twice by decision and his third match by forfeit for the Lancers.

• Tommy Wynosky (126) and Ryan Murtha (285) won titles to help Montville to a second-place finish at the Woodstock Academy Invite. The Indians had 178.5 points while Bristol Central won with 241. Wynosky pinned Woodstock's Grayson Deluca in 4:42 and Murtha pinned Ellis Tech's Tanner Doucette in 2:42.

St. Bernard-Norwich Tech-Wheeler's Matt Dowler won at 106 with an 8-2 win of Gilbert Tech's Moonis Ansari. Dowler was named Most Outstanding Wrestler. Other local finalists were Joe Rainville (113), Ian Concascia (152) and Mackenzie Mahn (182) or Montville and Victor Calle (138) of St. Bernard.

Hockey

• Isaac Bassham had a goal and two assists as the NFA-St. Bernard-Bacon co-op upset East Catholic, 3-0. Eric Brown and Denzel Dickerson scored for the Saints (6-8) and Jonah Beauton had 23 saves. East Catholic (10-2) is ranked No. 2 Division II state ratings.

Boys' basketball

• Drew Watson scored 18 points as Williams School defeated Watkinson 63-38. Xavier Mills added 10 for the Blues (3-9).

Swimming

• Claudia Mergy (200 IM, 100 breaststroke) and Marissa Lynch (100 freestyle, 100 backstroke) won two events each and Caius Mergy set a school record in the 500 freestyle to help lead Williams past New York Military 91-69.
