Norwich – Police said a man drove into the side of a city business early Monday morning after being stabbed earlier in the night at a bar.

The man, whom police did not identify, was stabbed in the neck and abdomen during a 11:20 p.m. fight at the High Noon Saloon at 297 W. Main St., police said.

About an hour later, police responded to the Patch & Leather at 756 North Main St., about three miles away, where a car had crashed into the side of the shop. Fire Battalion Chief Brad Keltonic said firefighters also responded to the crash. He said the car drove through a cinder block wall and aluminum siding before making its way halfway through the motorcycle accessory business.

The driver fled the crash, police said, but was later found near the crash scene with the help of a state police K-9 team. Police said the man had suffered non-life threatening stab wounds from the earlier altercation and was taken to The William W. Backus Hospital, where he is being treated for injuries.

The stabbing does not appear to be a random act, police said, and the incident remains under investigation. No arrests have been announced by police.

Anyone who may have witnessed this fight or has any information to provide regarding the incident is asked to call Detective Darren Powers at (860) 886-5561 or the anonymous tip line at (860) 886-5561, ext. 500.
