ShopRite is coming to East Haven this fall.

It will open in the former A&P location in the Foxhaven Plaza on Route 80. East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr. made the announcement at a press conference today (Feb. 7) inside the soon-to-be remodeled store.

Maturo was flanked by local and state officials, as well as Harry Garafalo, whose family will own and operate the new store.

“It’s a great honor and a great pleasure to have a business like ShopRite come to East Haven,” said Maturo.

Maturo said the store will create from 200 to 250 new jobs.

Garafalo, president of Milford Markets, said he was looking forward to opening the store in East Haven, which he said was a “market that is underserved.” The Garofalo family also owns ShopRite stores in Hamden, Milford, Stratford, and West Haven.
