ECC cancels wrestling tournament

The Eastern Connecticut Conference announced Monday night it has decided to cancel to the 2013 wrestling tournament.

The event, originally scheduled to be held last Friday and Saturday, was going to be completed in one day (Tuesday) at Fitch High School and scaled back to eight wrestlers in each weight class.

But ECC officials decided Monday night to cancel the event because a number of its member institutions will not have school again on Tuesday and pushing it back further would not give wrestlers enough time to recover for the state class championship tournaments, which are scheduled to begin Friday night.
