For the love of art...and words

As an experiment, in the time it takes me to type the sort of lengthy title of a new exhibition - "An Art Lover's Look at New Works by Jan Blencowe, Claudia Post, Roxanne Steed and Joan Cole" - I was able to recreate, in orange Sharpie on shirt cardboard, Goya's "The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters" - which is also a long title, when you think about it.

In any event, this show, taking place at Six Summit Gallery in Ivoryton, kicks off with the first of two artist receptions from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Shown here is Steed's "Blue Hydrangeas and Pears." Runs through April 15. Hours 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wed., 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Thurs., 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Fri., and noon-4 p.m. Sat. and Sun.; (860) 581-8332, sixsummitgallery.com.
