Don't let tragedy lead to Big-Brother rules

In response to the Newtown shootings the Connecticut General Assembly is going overboard to invade your family's privacy. Proposed Bill 374 requires that public school children in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12, and all home schooled children ages 12, 14, and 17 will be required to submit to a "confidential" behavioral health assessment sent directly to the State Board of Education - so it is not confidential. There is no mention of private-schooled children.

One young man killed many innocent children at Newtown. He had a history of problems. Most children do not and this is a terribly invasive "assessment" that includes "a review of physical and mental health, intelligence, school performance, employment, level of function in different domains including family situation, and behavior in the community."

And can you imagine the cost to "assess" all those children?

Speak up people and protect your families from yet another government invasion into your home - a knee-jerk response to a terrible tragedy.
