As you might expect, if you've got a night's worth of younger local bands performing ambitious and challenging music that pushes the boundaries of "pop," Matzah Cigar is involved.
Indeed, the New London art-proggers - whose debut "Imaginary Friends" CD is a musical pinball game giddily bouncing from Mr. Bungle and Frank Zappa to UK and Coheed & Cambria - headline a compelling bill Friday at the Workshop in Mystic. Also performing: trumpet/guitar duo Dom The Penguin, post-fusion quintet The Feels, and the Phish-scented Efeneh.
