"Tony n' Tina's Wedding" staged in Groton

Published February 14. 2013 4:00AM

You can get into the act, literally, at "Tony n' Tina's Wedding." Walking into this show is like strolling into a wedding reception - an amusing, crazy, dramatic, funny wedding reception.

Maybe the best way to say it is: it's an interactive experience. Audience members serve as the guests and mingle with the actors playing the bride and groom and all their colorful friends and family members.

So, grab a "plus one" and head over to Groton Inn and Suites on Saturday. That's where the latest production of "Tony n' Tina" toasts the newlyweds.

This "Tony n' Tina" serves as a benefit for the Connecticut College men's lacrosse team.

Here's the connection: Dan Corcoran, who is assistant coach for the team, is a producer for "Tony n' Tina," which is marking its 25th anniversary.

Since this is, after all, a pseudo wedding reception, your ticket includes dinner and dancing.

There is a cash bar.

"Tony n' Tina's Wedding," 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Groton Inn and Suites, 99 Gold Star Highway, Groton; benefits Connecticut College men's lacrosse team; $100 adults, $75 students, group rates available for 10 or more by calling (203) 451-6189; tonylovestina.com.

What did you think of President Obama's State of the Union speech Tuesday night?
I thought he gave a moving speech that was a call to action on gun control, climate change and the economy.
I thought it was heavy on platitudes and light on details, like most State of the Union addresses.
I didn't hear a word he said; Speaker John Boehner's death mask of a face had me transfixed.
What was up with VP Joe Biden's rose-colored glasses?
No idea; I was watching the exciting Bruins-Rangers game.
