OIC wins $4,000 from foundation

The Opportunities Industrialization Center of New London County has been granted $4,000 by People's United Community Foundation for an employment training program.

The New London-based nonprofit was one of 37 organizations in Connecticut to win awards from the foundation in its first grant cycle of 2013. The statewide awards totaled $211,000, while more than $530,000 went to organizations in the six states served by Bridgeport-based People's United Bank.

Statewide organizations such as Special Olympics Connecticut, Connecticut Association for Human Services, Partnership for Strong Communities, Habitat for Humanity, Volunteers of America and Easter Seals Connecticut also were awarded grants from the foundation.
