    NL police: Man had drugs, rare Colt pistol

    New London — A man arrested by police here on drugs and weapons early this morning was in possession of a rare Colt single shot pistol  that was manufactured between 1920 and 1941.

    Irock Z. Hill, 26, of 109 Spring Glen Road, was arrested after police stopped a car he was passenger in and smelled a strong odor of marijuana.

    Police said that about 1:30 a.m. they stopped a car in the area of Pearl and Bank streets for equipment and moving violations. It was at point they smelled the marijuana and Hill admitted he had the marijuana and more. Police then found a clear plastic bag and capsules with a white power along with a Colt Camp Perry Special .22 caliber long pistol. Just 2,525 of the target shooting guns were made and they sell for thousands of dollars.

    Hill was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of marijuana, carrying a pistol without a permit, having a weapon in a motor vehicle and criminal possession of a firearm. He is being held on a $25,000 bond and is slated to appear in New London Superior Court Tuesday.
