Groton — Electric Boat recognized 11 employees who deployed last year on active duty or for specialized training as members of the Guard and Reserve on Feb. 12.

Peter Stelter, an engineering supervisor and lieutenant commander in the Navy Reserve, served on the staff of Commander, Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa in Djibouti, Africa from August 2011 to September, working as a planner in the strategic communications directorate.

Marc White, a senior structural draftsman and staff sergeant in the Marine Corps Reserve, provided security for five months along a main supply route in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Kyle Bradford, a senior draftsman and specialist in the Army National Guard, trained for a deployment in Afghanistan but as a result of the drawdown, only one person from his section went.

Jeff Cloutier, an engineer and an 18-year veteran of the Connecticut National Guard, spent two months in 2011 embedded with the Army in Balhk Province, Afghanistan, providing Forward Operating Base build-up support. He then went to Helmand Province to do similar work while embedded with the Marines from October 2011 to February 2012.

Ray Rekowski, a contamination control technician and sergeant in the Army Reserves, helped set up the support hospital at Fort Polk in Louisiana.

Nicholas Holliday, a firefighter and emergency medical technician at EB and a nine-year veteran of the Connecticut Army National Guard, recently spent two years providing crash rescue and firefighting support for Forward Operating Base Apache and the attached flight line in Zabul Province, Afghanistan.

Jayson Keys, an engineer and member of the Army Reserve, led a platoon of 40 soldiers on a training deployment in 2012 at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif.

Mark Blanda, a software engineer specialist and airman in the National Guard, returned from a six-month deployment that included a tour in Southwest Asia in January. He served as the night shift superintendent for the 727th Expeditionary Air Control Squadron from May to November.

John Tkach, a tactical software engineer and member of the Maine Air National Guard, spent nine months installing electronics and telecommunications infrastructure in Afghanistan last year.

John Brennan, a senior quality control analyst and technical sergeant in the Rhode Island Air National Guard, attended the U.S. Air Force Training Manager Technical School at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss., in May and June.

Daniel McGill, an engineer and member of the Connecticut Army National Guard, completed the Officers Basic Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Andrew Donnelly, a senior draftsman and officer candidate in the Rhode Island Army National Guard, completed basic training and the first phase Officer Candidate School at Camp Niantic.
