Cuddle up with 'Creatures, People and Places'
Dolls are intriguing items - from Barbie and American Girl to those dolls stuck by pins so voodoo practitioners can turn you into a trout. On the most pleasingly aesthetic level: there is much old-school beauty and creativity in dolls crafted by the artist Margarita J. Henderson-Maxson. "Creatures, People and Places" is a new exhibit featuring Henderson-Maxson's work (including "Freida With Scarf," shown here).
The show takes place in Groton's Gallery at the Light House, which hosts an opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. The exhibition runs through March 29, and there will be an artist's demonstration at 5:30 p.m. March 20. Hours at the gallery, at 744 Long Hill Road, are noon-5 p.m. Mon.-Fri., by appointment Sat.; (860) 445-7626, lighthousevocedcenter.com/gallery.html.
