The Spaminato Brothers play the Knickerbocker Cafe

Anyone associated with NRBQ automatically has all the musical hipness quotient they'd ever need. You could be the guy who changed a tire once on the NRBQ tour bus, and later sold T-shirts for Justin Bieber for free - just to be close to Justin - and you'd STILL be cool.

Imagine, then, how great the Spaminato Brothers' band must be. Bassist Joey Spaminato was a co-founder and longtime member of NRBQ, and his younger sibling, guitarist Johnny, replaced Al Anderson in that group.

The brothers got together with guitarist Aaron Spade and drummer Jay Cournoyer and, in 2011, as the Spaminato Brothers, released a supremely catchy CD called "Pie in the Sky." The band appears Saturday at the Knickerbocker Cafe in Westerly - and, yes, expect a generous helping of material from across their entire career.

    - RICK KOSTER
