Ledyard - Jennifer Sullivan, the former Stonington High School and UConn women's soccer player, was named the Ledyard High School girls' soccer coach on Thursday.

Sullivan is a 2001 Stonington graduate, where she was an all-state player, and was a four-year starter at UConn, including two Big East Conference championship teams (2002, 2004) and one team which was the national championship runner-up (2003).

"We are very excited to welcome Jen Sullivan to Ledyard High School," Ledyard athletic director Jim Buonocore said in a press release. "She will be an excellent role model for our student-athletes and she understands the importance of education and the role athletics plays in our educational mission.

"Her extensive background in the sport of soccer as a player and a coach will be extremely beneficial for our girls. She is highly regarded in the soccer community as an outstanding teacher of the game. I am excited to watch our soccer program grow under the leadership of coach Sullivan."

Sullivan, a guidance counselor at Stonington, was an assistant coach for the Providence College women's soccer team from 2006-11.

I won't be tuning in. Meryl Streep isn't up for anything and I'm peeved our local Hope Springs wasn't recognized.
I'm still fuming about Kushner's Lincoln inaccuracies.
I'll be watching The Walking Dead instead.
