The parents of Michael Barnes and Jency Southwell are proud to announce the engagement of their children. Michael is the son of Carol Barnes Craig, the late Robert W. Barnes, and stepson of William T. Craig of Mystic. Jency is the daughter of Michael and Susan Southwell of Dallas, Texas.

Jency is a 2003 graduate of Clarkson High School, Clarkson, Mich., and a 2007 graduate of Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in marketing. She is employed as a senior analyst for Digitas in Boston, Mass.

Michael is a 2003 graduate of Stonington High School and a 2007 graduate of Bentley University in Waltham, Mass., with a bachelor's degree in marketing. He is employed as senior marketing manager at Experian QAS in Boston, Mass.

A June 2013 wedding in Mystic is planned.
