UConn delivered another drama-filled performance Wednesday night.

The Huskies just couldn't deliver a win.

Big East leader Georgetown won the double-overtime thriller, 79-78, at Gampel Pavilion. Sophomore Otto Porter Jr. scored the game-winning basket with 9.5 seconds left.

It was a wild and crazy game.

UConn fought back from a 12-point deficit at the end of regulation. But they let a 7-point lead slip away in the final two minutes of the second overtime.

"You can write whatever you want to," said coach Kevin Ollie during his post-game press conference. "But I hope you all write that we've got heart. .. I will go to battle with them any day. All of them."

The Huskies fell to 19-8 overall, 9-6 in the Big East with three regular season games remaining.

The seventh-ranked Hoyas (22-4, 12-3) won their 10 straight game.

Some news, notes and quotes from tonight's game:

-- Sophomore DeAndre Daniels was the star of the game. He recorded UConn's first double-double this season, finishing with 25 points and 10 rebounds while playing 49 minutes. He also had three blocks and played solid defense on Porter.

"DeAndre had a great game," Ollie said.

The humble Daniels downplayed his performance.

"This is a team game," Daniels said. "I just came out and my teammates found me and I was able to knock down shots."

-- Porter, the front-runner in the Big East player-of-the-year race, had a quiet first half, scoring just one point. But he had 21 points after intermission, giving him a team-best 22 overall.

The Hoyas put the ball in Porter's hands with the game on the line in the closing seconds, and he delivered.

"Once I got it, I just sprinted to the lane," Porter said.

Georgetown coach John Thompson III: "He makes winning plays."

It was one of the few times in the game that UConn failed to contain Porter.

"We just didn't cut him off," Ollie said. "We let him get all the way into the lane."

-- Sophomore Ryan Boatright had a shot at the game-winning basket after Porter scored. He dribbled into traffic, ended up in the corner and misfired from 3-point range.

"It actually felt good coming off my hands, but it fell short," Boatright said.

It wasn't the shot that Ollie wanted.

"They played good defense, they bottled him up in the corner and he just had to make the play," Ollie said.

-- The 3-point shot played a major role in this game.

Georgetown seized the lead in the second half by making eight of its first nine from beyond the arc. Porter and D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera hit 3-pointers to spark the game-ending 8-0 run in double overtime. The Hoyas went 11-for-20. Porter made five.

UConn also got hot from 3-point land, sinking 11 of 29 overall. Napier and Daniels had four and three, respectively.

Freshman Omar Calhoun's huge 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left in regulation forced overtime.

Boatright thought UConn still trailed.

"I thought we were down four when he hit that three," Boatright said. "I ran up to the baseline and I was getting ready to foul."

-- Calhoun has been one of UConn's best rebounders in recent weeks. He had seven against the Hoyas.

He's had at least five rebounds in each of the last eight games.

-- Napier briefly left the game early in the second half, turning his right ankle after scoring on a driving layup. He sat out for about three minutes.

"It affected me but I got in the game, so I was trying to tough it out," Napier said.

He scored 16 points on 6-for-16 shooting.

-- UConn tied a school record with its sixth overtime game this season. The Huskies are 4-2 in those extra sessions.

It was their second double overtime game this season. They defeated Quinnipiac, 89-83, on Nov. 18 in the Virgin Island Paradise Jam.

-- The Huskies won the rebounding battle, 38-28, but committed 18 turnovers.

-- It was Georgetown's first win at Gampel Pavilion. The Hoyas lost their previous three trips there.

-- UConn now embarks on a two-game road trip, visiting Cincinnati Saturday and South Florida on Wednesday. The Huskies finish the season by hosting Providence on March 9 in Storrs.
