The Old Lyme High School and Valley Regional boys' basketball teams were the best during the Shoreline Conference regular season.

The two teams will decide who gets bragging rights tonight when they play for the Shoreline Conference tournament title at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven (7 p.m.)

Valley beat the Wildcats, 55-51, in the only regular season meeting between the two teams (Jan. 7).

Second-seeded Old Lyme (17-5) has won league titles in 2001 and 2011 under head coach Kirk Kaczor. They upset Valley in overtime, 63-61, to win the latter title.

It's the third straight season that the top-seeded Warriors (20-2) will play for the league title.

Wildcats' senior forward George Logan scored his 1,00th-career point in Tuesday's 56-46 win over No. 3 Cromwell. He was chosen by league coaches to the Shoreline Conference first-team. Senior guard Andrew Tyrol was voted to the second team.

Senior guard Jonathan Luster leads Valley. He's the two-time Shoreline Conference Player of the Year and has averaged 15.4 points and 4.2 assists. Senior Chris Connor, a 6-foot-5 forward, leads the team in scoring (17.2) and rebounding (8.9).

H.S. girls' basketball

• Junior Sarah Velieux scored a game-high 31 points to carry No. 6 RHAM-Hebron past No. 11 East Lyme, 56-48, in a Class L second round game. The Vikings ended their season with a 17-6 record.

Junior Jenna Schumacher had 16 points and 12 rebounds while seniors Allison Stoddard (12 points, six assists), Sydney Swanson (12 rebounds), and Kelly Keenan (two 3-pointers) finished their careers for the Vikings.

• No. 12 St. Bernard fell behind in the second quarter and never recovered, losing to No. 5 Bolton, 50-39, in a Class S second-round game. The Saints (14-10) were out-scored 13-5 in the second quarter and trailed 30-24 at intermission.

Casey Sullivan led St. Bernard with 14 points while Kaitlyn Berkel had 12 points and eight rebounds and Britteny Walenta added 11 points.

H.S. hockey

• Fitch-East Lyme-Ledyard finished its season with a 9-1 loss to E.O. Smith-Tolland-Windham Wednesday night. Pete Yapchanyk scored in the first period and Topher Freeman and Kyle Gurnee had assists for Fitch-East Lyme-Ledyard (0-20).

College cross country

• The Connecticut College men's cross country team was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association with the sport's academic team award. The Camels carried a mean grade point average of 3.573 to rank fourth among the 143 teams honored in all of Division III.

To qualify for the honor, a team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or better.

The Camels recorded the highest GPA in the New England region. Cal Tech (3.72), Washington University (3.61) and Ithaca College finished first, second and third in the country.

In addition, senior Andrew Duarte and junior Mike LeDuc were both named to the USTFCCCA men's cross country All-Academic team.
