A change in the wind at ACGOW

Art can be very valuable - even though, typically, it might just be oil paint or watercolors or "found objects." Think of the even greater value, then, if the artist uses semi-precious stones! They're worth a lot more than paint! Still, it's the overall creativity and aesthetics that are important. Consider "Artist's Passages: Changes in the Wind," a new exhibit opening with a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Artists' Cooperative Gallery in Westerly. On display will be the jewelry art of Michelle Armitano (above), whose work features variations with silver and gold plate and stones such as malachite, moonstone, turquoise and aventurine. Runs through March 31. Hours 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tues.-Sat. Artists' Cooperative Gallery, 7 Canal St., Westerly; (401) 596-2221, westerlyarts.com.
