Junior Tyler Olander is the latest player to be sidelined. He’s done for the season after fracturing his left foot in Wednesday’s loss at South Florida.
He will likely need surgery, according to UConn. He’ll visit with a surgeon on Monday.
He appeared in 29 games, starting 26, and averaged 4.3 points and 3.7 rebounds.
It’s another blow to an already thin UConn roster.
Key reserve Niels Giffey fractured his right index finger at Cincinnati on Saturday and went out of the season.
Junior Shabazz Napier, the team’s leading scorer, has missed the last two games with a right foot injury. He’s considered day-to-day. He did some light movements on the court today.
Freshman Omar Calhoun is hampered by a sore right wrist and also considered day-to-day. He made just one of 14 field goal attempts against the Bulls.
UConn had the day off from practice today.
The short-handed Huskies close out the season by hosting Providence Saturday inStorrs. The game is already sold-out.
UConn (19-10, 9-8) has lost a season-high three straight games.
