UConn junior Shabazz Napier earned his first All-Big East first team selection and freshman Omar Calhoun made the league's All-Rookie team.

The Big East announced the all-conference picks today.

Napier was joined on the first team by Georgetown's Otto Porter, Jr., Notre Dame's Jack Cooley, Providence's Bryce Cotton and the Louisville duo of Russ Smith and Gorgui Dieng.

On the season, Napier averaged a team-best 17.1 points per game and 4.6 assists while leading the Huskies to a 20-10 overall record and their first winning Big East season (10-8) since 2008-09.

A 6-foot-1 guard, he also was the team's second leading rebounder at 4.4 per game. He was tied for fourth in the Big East in steals (2.0), seventh in assists and third in 3-pointers (68).

Calhoun had a strong freshmen year, averaging 11.1 points and 3.9 rebounds. He started every game until a sore right wrist kept him out of Saturday's season-ending overtime win over Providence.

The St. John's duo of JaKarr Sampson and Chris Obekpa, Georgetown's D`Vauntes Smith-Rivera, Pittsburgh's Steven Adams and Villanova's Ryan Arcidiacono also made the rookie team.

Porter, the only unanimous selection to the All-Big East first team, is the heavy favorite to win league player-of-the-year honors. Sampson is the front-runner for top rookie.

Individual awards for top coach, player, rookie and scholar-athlete will be announced on Tuesday, the first day of the Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden.

Here's a look at the other All-Big East teams:

Second team: Cincinnati's Sean Kilpatrick, Marquette's Vander Blue, Notre Dame's Jerian Grant,Syracuse's C.J. Fair and Michael Carter-Williams.

Third team: Georgetown's Markel Starks, Louisville's Peyton Siva, Pittsburgh's Tray Woodall, Syracuse's Brandon Triche and Villanova's JayVaughn Pinkston.

Honorable mention: Marquette's Davante Gardner, Providence's Kadeem Batts, St. John's Sampson and Seton Hall's Fuquan Edwin.
