Amtrak announced that service between New York and Boston, which had been suspended because of an overnight derailment of a Providence & Worcester freight train three miles east of New Haven, is resuming late this afternoon.
A train is scheduled to leave Boston at 4:10 p.m.and a train is slated to leave New York at 5 p.m. Amtrak said passengers should expect delays through the New Haven area.
Earleir today Amtrak had made special arrangements for passengers traveling between New York and Boston today by routing trains through Springfield, Mass. Amtrak advised passengers to allow several hours of extra time for the trip, which also stops in New Haven.
