Class LL boys

Junior Raiquan Clark had a game-high 26 points with 12 rebounds as second-seeded Hillhouse of New Haven beat No. 1 Fairfield Prep, 52-42, to win a state-record 22nd CIAC title at Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday night.

Hillhouse (26-1), beat Prep for the thrid time this season, although its only loss was also to the Jesuits (24-3).

Paschal Chukwu had 12 points, 16 rebounds and six blocks for the Jesuits (24-3).

Class LL girls

Maria Weselyj made a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give top-seeded Mercy of Middletown an improbable 54-53 win over No. 2 Lauralton Hall of Milford.

It looked like Mercy was about to lose its fourth straight final after Michelle DeSantis made a layup with 3.8 seconds left in the game to give the Crusaders a 53-51 lead.

Mercy called two timeouts to set up a play. Sheena Landy threw the inbounds pass from the baseline across halfcourt. The Tigers' Cassandra Santoro somehow caught the Hail Mary in traffic and passed the ball to her right to an open Weselyj.

Class S boys

Brent Buser finished with 23 points and Michael Noyes added 19 points to lead third-seeded Granby Memorial to its first state championship with an 83-81 double overtime victory over Weaver.

Class S girls

Kiah Gillespie had 22 points and 14 rebounds as top-seeded Hartford Capital won its first state title with an 84-55 victory over No. 3 Thomaston.

The Trailbazers finish 25-2, their lone losses coming to a pair of of New York schools - Archbishop Molloy and Bishop Ford Central Catholic.
