Quiet power in New London

Nelly Martinez, 8, of New London reads Monday during the Power Hour of the after-school program at the Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Connecticut. The Power Hour is a quiet time when kids are required to work on homework or read books. Martinez is in the third-grade class of the program instructed by Eric Franceschi. The class is held Monday through Friday in Building C of the Thames River Apartments in New London.
