Gun violence grows like a deadly cancer

The NRA and other gun advocates call "foul" when the grief of the Newtown tragedy is used to advocate for gun control. They argue that the emotional reaction to the murder of 20 babies should not impede their right to bear arms and possess semi-automatic weapons with high capacity clips - the same weapon that killed the 20 babies.

However, it is this grief that tells us something is clearly wrong with the gun culture in our society. Just witness the dramatic increase in the sale of guns after Newtown and the countless deaths every day by guns. This is a sickness affecting our society and can be diagnosed as a cancer since it appears to be growing. And until the politicians find the courage to affect a real cure, our society will experience greater and greater suffering.
