Complete Route 11 in affordable steps

Over the years, the debate over whether to continue to build or not continue to build Route 11 has gone back and forth. It is probably not needed if you go strictly by traffic use. Of course, it will be needed someday.

What would happen with the addition of tolls? I, for one, would not use the route. Others with local knowledge would probably follow my example. It is just not practical to have tolls when they would be so easy to avoid.

The road is planned to be a four-lane divided highway with two lanes northbound and two lanes southbound. Why not build the southbound two lanes and let that section carry north and southbound traffic until traffic demands require the other side?

This approach would cost around 65 percent of the total cost. Should the state take this action, it would show the area that efforts are being made to help southeastern Connecticut.
