Four people with local ties recently graduated from military training.

Army Pvt. James A. McVeigh graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. McVeigh, the grandson of Andrew Cimanara of Pawcatuck, is a 2011 graduate of Stonington High School.

Air Force Airman Kevin A. Knerr graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas. Knerr, the son of Danielle and Karl Knerr of Lisbon, is a 2011 graduate of Norwich Free Academy.

Air Force Airman Nicholas G. Timmerman graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. Timmerman, the son of Robert Timmerman of Gales Ferry, is a 2012 graduate of Ledyard High School.

Army Pvt. Brendan T. O’Farrell graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson. O’Farrell, the son of Susan O’Farrell of Preston, is a 2012 graduate of Norwich Free Academy.
