Music enthusiasts who haven't yet discovered Captain Buck's Billiard Bar & Lounge upstairs in New London's Bulkeley House are encouraged to do so at top speed. It's a handsome and comfy spot with plenty of live tuneage.

The latest regular event is an all-are-welcome acoustic session each Wednesday. Called the Common Ground Open Mic, it starts at 7 p.m. and lasts until 11 p.m. or until some showoff plays all of side one of Mahavishnu Orchestra's "Inner Mounting Flame."

The sessions are jointly hosted by Craig Johnson and Mike Rogoff, and a house PA system is provided. Original and cover tunes are both encouraged. Oh - there are pint specials, and each participant gets a free drink!
