Waterford's Long to play at Wagner next year

Waterford High School graduate Nolan Long will play basketball and baseball at Wagner College next year.

Long made the announcement Thursday night.

Wagner, located on Staten Island, is a member of the Northeast Conference with Central Connecticut and Sacred Heart, among others.

Long attends South Kent, a prep school in western Connecticut.

Long led the Lancers to the 2012 Class M state basketball title, the first championship for the program.

The 6-foot-9 Long had basketball scholarship offers from James Madison, Hofstra, Central Connecticut and Sacred Heart.

His intention is to play both sports.
