Ledyard -- Nancy Rossi has been hired as managing executive of the agency’s Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center, located in New London, according to an announcement from United Way of Southeastern Connecticut.

Rossi will supervise daily operations and is expected to build the center's capacity to meet the growing needs of the region in the areas of hunger and food insecurity, ensuring that every county resident has access to adequate, safe and nutritious food, the release said.

Rossi has worked in state government and recently retired from a management career with the Southeastern Mental Health Authority. She has served United Way in a multitude of volunteer roles including chairing the Board of Directors, as a campaign and allocations volunteer, and as a member of the food center’s Advisory Council. She is co-chair of the New London County Food Policy Council that is working, along with several community partners, to advocate for solutions to food system problems.
