Artists in bloom at Fresh Ayer Gallery

"Wine, Fruit, Flowers" by Mary LaForge

This being the second coldest spring on record, and a particularly hellish season for allergies - excuse me while I sneeze; (explosion!) OK, that's better - you might not be feeling particularly vernal right now. However, if anything can put you in the mood, it might be the new "Spring Floral" exhibition at the Fresh Ayer Art Gallery at 19 Halls Road in Old Lyme. There's an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, and the show features the blossom-clustered paintings of Phyllis Bevington of Chester, Susan Missel of Old Saybrook, and Lyme's Mary LaForge (whose "Wine, Fruit, Flowers" is shown above). Through May 29. Hours noon-8 p.m. Wed.-Sat., noon-5 p.m. Tues.; (860) 598-9313, freshayergallery.com.
