Mystic - Purple Red, one of two new African penguin chicks at the Mystic Aquarium, takes its first swim Thursday in the aquarium's Roger Tory Peterson Penguin Pavilion.

Purple Red and Purple Gray, not shown, were hatched at the aquarium in early February. The two chicks were introduced Thursday by penguin trainers Tracy Camp and Josh Davis.

According to an aquarium press release, the chicks float very well but must learn how to dive and navigate using their wings and feet.
