    Hamilton commits to UConn men

UConn received more good recruiting news Friday night, securing a verbal commitment from Class of 2014 talent Daniel Hamilton.

Hamilton, a 6-foot-6 swingman out of St. John Bosco in Bellflower, Calif., averaged 14.5 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. A top 30 recruit, he made an official visit to Storrs last weekend.

"It's an up-and-coming program," Hamilton told ESPN.com. "Me and Coach Ollie have a great relationship. I knew him before he got the job there. It's an opportunity for me to come in and do some damage."

Coach Kevin Ollie has also added Rodney Purvis, who decided to transfer from North Carolina State. Purvis will be eligible to play in 2014.

Hamilton comes from a family of basketball players. UConn recruited older brother, Jordan, who chose Texas and now plays for the Denver Nuggets. Isaac Hamilton will play for Texas-El Paso while Gary Hamilton competed for Miami.
