It's been nearly four weeks since anyone has heard or seen from Eastern Connecticut State University sophomore Alyssiah Marie Wiley.

State police and her family continue to search for her.

Lt. J. Paul Vance said contrary to media reports state police were not searching Wednesday for evidence in the case in an Ansonia pond.

Vance said police today, however, would be searching various areas, including bodies of water, from Willimantic to the New York border.

"We are working diligently," he said. "We are actively looking for her."

Vance said police are working under the assumption that Wiley is alive.

The last time 20-year-old Wiley, a West Haven native, was seen on the campus was on the morning of April 20 by her dorm roommate. She was last seen that evening in the area of the Dairy Queen on Main Street. On April 24, state police said, they were contacted by university police regarding Wiley's disappearance. University police had started a search after being informed that Wiley could not be located by friends or family.

Wiley is majoring in psychology and minoring in biology.

Wiley's family has also been actively looking for her. The family plans to have a march of "prayer and awareness" on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Beardsley Park in Bridgeport.
