Sterling — State Police are investigating the death of man who they say suffered a chest injury before becoming involved in a minor car crash on Plainfield Pike east of Church Street early Saturday morning.

When police and emergency services personnel arrived on the scene of the 12:15 a.m. crash they found Marcus Brisbane, 40, dead at the scene.

An investigation revealed that Brisbane had suffered a chest injury not related to the crash and police connected that to a verbal dispute at another location.

Detectives from the State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad collected forensic and physical evidence at the scenes and interviewed witnesses. An autopsy is slated for Tuesday to determine the cause of death. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact State Police.
