Avery Point ousted from NJCAA World Series

Avery Point's stay at the NJCAA Division II World Series at Enid, Okla., ended Tuesday, with a 10-6 loss to Murray State College of Oklahoma.

Murray State took a 6-0 lead but the Pointers (38-10) rallied to tie the score at 6-6. Pat Rogers of Waterford hit a two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning and New London's Matt Greene tied it with a grand slam in the fifth inning. Connor Buckley of Stonington had three hits and Greene had two hits for Avery Point, which opened the double-elimination tournament with a 9-1 loss to Heartland Community College of Illinois on Sunday.
