    Hygienic begins its Summer Flickers

    Watching stars under the stars

You may ask yourself, well, how did I get here?

How you got here: You heard that this year's Summer Flickers at the Hygienic Art Park is kicking of with the Talking Heads concert film "Stop Making Sense."

So if you're a David Byrne fan ... or a Jonathan Demme fan ... or a music fan ... or a film fan ... where else would you be Wednesday but there?

Every summer, the Hygienic hosts movie screenings outdoors on Wednesday nights, usually starting just after 8 p.m. And every summer, the line-up is a wonderfully eclectic collection of films.

Hygienic Managing Director Rich Martin notes that the showing of "Clash of the Titans" serves as a nod to Ray Harryhausen, the recently departed creative genius who did the Claymation for the film. "The Exorcist" will be screened, as the first true horror film to be part of the series. Fans have long requested "The Goonies" be included - and this year get their wish.

While we've got David Byrne as part of the Summer Flickers series, another music icon turns out three times. David Bowie stars in "The Hunger," "Labyrinth" and "The Prestige." So, you young Americans, come on down.
