Concert by the U.S. Coast Guard Band

Published July 04. 2013 4:00AM

American composers get their due in Sunday's Coast Guard Band concert.

How that translates: Aaron Copland's "Buckaroo Holiday," for instance, and Zez Confrey's amusingly titled "Kitten on the Keys" are among the many numbers on the program. And you can bet the musicians will play songs by that guy who helped found the Coast Guard Band - John Philip Sousa. Joining in the concert will be the Dixieland Jazz Band.

U.S. Coast Guard Band, 2 p.m. Sunday, Leamy Concert Hall, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, 15 Mohegan Ave., New London; free; (860) 701-6826.
