Ledyard — Police announced Sunday night that they have charged a 14-year-old boy with kicking in a the front door of home in the Highlands section of town and then fleeing last Thursday.

Police said that about 9 p.m. that day they received a 911 call from a resident reporting the incident.

A search by Stonington Police K9 officer Greg Howard and his dog Fritz led to another Highlands residence. That led to the arrest of the boy on charges of second-degree attempted burglary, breach of peace and criminal mischief. While investigating the initial incident, police learned the boy had tried to enter another home in the same way.
