Carlos Eire to speak in Stonington

La Grua Center Lecture Series presents "Confessions of a Cuban Boy," a book talk with author Carlos Eire on Friday, Aug. 9, at 6 p.m. Eire's talk will focus on his two memoirs about his childhood and their relation to history; "Waiting for Snow in Havana," winner of the National Book Award in 2003, which covers his life in Cuba, and "Learning to Die in Miami" (2009), which deals with his experiences as an exiled orphan.
